Recipe - Press In Pie Crust

Homemade Pie Crust - Press in Style

I started using this because i don't like to work so hard on a crust and then it end up tough. And then look at the mess I made.....

For 1-crust pastry:
1 1/4 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup oil
3 Tablespoons cold water

For 2-crust pastry:
2 1/3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup oil
6 Tablespoons cold water

1.
To prepare pastry, in a large bowl, stir together flour and salt.
In a small bowl, combine the oil and water (DO NOT STIR).
Add to flour mixture all at once and stir lightly with a fork just until moistened. If necessary, stir in up to 1 Tablespoon additional water, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, as needed to moisten.

2.
If making a 1-crust pie you do not have to divide the mixture.
If making a 2-crust pie then divide in half and put one half in ungreased pie pan and mash from center out until all of pan is covered. If you want a second pie crust then place other half in pan and do the same as first.

(Sometimes I just mix this in the pie plate that I am going to use... cuts down on mess. If not, then I use the mixing bowl for my pie filling as well... I LIKE TO CUT DOWN ON MESS) Fill and bake as directed in recipe.
